Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program
CAREC’s goal is to improve living standards and to reduce poverty in CAREC countries through more efficient and effective regional economic cooperation. To date, the Program has focused on financing infrastructure projects and improving the region’s policy environment in the priority areas of:         


ASEAN Regional Forum
The objectives of the ASEAN Regional Forum are outlined in the first ARF Chairman’s Statement (1994), namely: To foster constructive dialogue and consultation on political and security issues of common interest and concern; and to make significant contributions to efforts towards confidence-building and preventive diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific region.

ASEAN Plus Three
Since the process began in 1997, ASEAN Plus Three (APT) cooperation has broadened and deepened. It includes cooperation in the areas of food and energy security, financial cooperation, trade facilitation, disaster management, people-to-people contacts, narrowing the development gap, rural development and poverty alleviation, human trafficking, labour movement, communicable diseases, environment and sustainable development, and transnational crime, including counter-terrorism.

Lower Mekong Initative
The Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI), launched in July 2009, is a multinational effort intended to create integrated sub-regional cooperation between and among Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, and the U.S. in the areas of education, health, environment, and infrastructure.  These sectors form the four pillars of the LMI.  A primary objective of the initiative is to build local capacity to allow the sub-region to more effectively collaborate across borders and to overcome local obstacles in meeting regional challenges and opportunities.

Mekong River Commission
The Mekong River Commission (MRC) is the only inter-governmental agency that works directly with the governments of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam on their common specific interests—joint management of shared water resources and sustainable development of the Mekong River. As a regional facilitating and advisory body governed by water and environment ministers of the four countries, the MRC aims to ensure that the Mekong water is developed in the most efficient manner that mutually benefits all Member Countries and minimises harmful effects on people and the environment in the Lower Mekong Basin.


Pacific Islands Forum
The Pacific Islands Forum is a political grouping of 16 independent and self-governing states.  Members include Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshal Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Our goals are to stimulate economic growth and enhance political governance and security for the region, through the provision of policy advice; and to strengthen regional cooperation and integration through coordinating, monitoring and evaluating implementation of Leaders’ decisions.


Pakistan Water Gateway
The Pakistan Water Gateway is intended to enhance access to information related to water resources and issues in Pakistan available on the World Wide Web. It is a pioneering web-based knowledge product archiving information on a range of such issues pertaining to Pakistan.
