LloydLieutenant Colonel John Lloyd joined the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in July 2011 as a U.S. Army Fellow/Military professor.  He is a U.S. Army Engineer with a specialization in Joint Campaign and Strategic Planning.  Lt. Col. Lloyd most recently served as the Executive Officer for the 20th Engineer Brigade at Fort Bragg, N.C.  He is currently assigned as a military professor in the College of Security Studies.

Prior to his most recent assignment, he served in a variety of assignments at Fort Bragg, N.C., Fort Irwin, Calif. and Fort Lewis, Wash.  These assignments include: Executive Officer, 37th Engineer Battalion and Joint Task Force Eagle, Iraq.  Operations Officer, 37th Engineer Battalion, Ft. Bragg, Senior Operations Officer for XVIII Airborne Corps and MNC-I, Iraq, Deputy Maneuver Support Trainer, Ft. Irwin, Aide de Camp to the Deputy Commanding General of XVIII Airborne Corps, Ft Bragg, Company Commander and a variety of staff positions with the 20th Engineer Brigade, Ft. Bragg, Platoon Leader and staff officer in Ft. Lewis, Wash.  Lt. Col. Lloyd has deployed in support of Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Lt. Col. Lloyd received his Masters of Science Degree in Joint Campaign and Strategic Planning from the National Defense University and is a 2007 graduate from the Joint Advanced Warfighting School.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Cameron University, Lawton, Okla.  His military education includes; the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Joint Advanced Warfighting Course.  Additionally, Lt. Col. Lloyd is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sapper School, Jumpmaster and Airborne School, Air Assault School, and Pathfinder School.

Lt. Col. Lloyd’s next assignment will be as the Commander of the 19th Engineer Battalion, Fort Knox, Ky. in the summer of 2012.
