Executive Course: Advanced Security Cooperation (EC)
Criteria for Participation

  • Area of consideration is 45 Asia-Pacific countries, including the United States.
  • Focus is on future leaders in military and government security or security-related positions, and in the rank of lieutenant colonel/commander, colonel/captain, general/admiral, and civilian equivalents.
  • Outside the United States, nominations for participation in the Executive Course come from the military forces: Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Transportation, and Finance; through the U.S. Embassies, for approval at the Center.
  • Inside the United States, nominations come from the military components, i.e., the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force; the Department of Defense; State Department; and Department of Transportation, for approval at the Center.
  • The 6-week course is taught in English.  A score of 80 on the English Comprehensive Level Exam is required.
  • Executive Course Fellows focus on defining roles and missions of security forces, as well as historical and contemporary regional security issues, and identifying the indicators of potential security concerns within the region.

UNIVERSITY CREDIT AVAILABLE

APCSS is pleased to announce that the American Council on Education (ACE) has recommended the Executive Course for university credit.  The course has been approved for credit at either the graduate or undergraduate level, retroactive to Course 03-3.  Fellows who are interested in pursuing university credit will be required to undertake additional responsibilities beyond the basic course; all are invited to participate.  Full information on the program and its requirements are provided during the first week of the Executive Course.  This program is entirely voluntary for Fellows; participation in this program is not a requirement of the basic Executive Course.
